Touching Base

My job is over! School is out! But now its time for 6 weeks of summer school. I have been assigned to work as an instructional aide for Special Education kids at the High School. I was a little worried about jumping grade levels. (I usually work with first through sixth grades.) But it looks like it will be okay. (It's not math) It's World History and Geography. Maybe I'll learn something. I DO love history!

While I'm writing this post, I'm breathing prayers for my 19 year old son, who is outside my window, tonight, talking with someone that is a few years older than him. "Someone's" cigarette smoke is wafting in my bedroom window. "Someone" is recording a song in my husband's studio tonight. Hopefully "someone" will be a good influence on my son..I hope.

My younger son is inside tonight struggling with summer school's first night of homework. (4 hours). It's a heavy U.S. History class.

I wanted to do a post about writing, but I'm a little tired tonight. I want to tell you about Associated Content...notice the icon in the upper right hand corner of my blog. I turned one of my posts into an article and sold it to Associated Content just for fun. Click here to see it. They don't pay that well. I only made $5.60! I'll tell you more about this later, but its rather fun, and its a good way to get started if you're a new writer...or its a good place to send your previously published work, and get some lunch money! More about this later!

Life is moving at about 85 mph right now.

Yes, lunch money is always good. The pay gets better when you write those "How To" articles. And don't forget you get paid for page views too.

I'm praying that "Someone" will be a good influence on C. Hang in there.

Interesting - I'll check it out - $5 is $5 right. Beggars can't be choosers - at least that's what I can say in my 'unemployed bum' status at the moment.

Still praying for your son and for your whole family. HUGS

:( Associated press only pays to US citizens - bummer!

Praying for the fast lane to be changed to the comfortable cruise lane ;o]

Thanks Inspired!

Becky--I'm going to ask a few people including the Gatekeeper if they know of any international media companies! There's GOT to be some!

Hi, so your summer school is 6 weeks? My summer job with summer school is 4 weeks. I'm presently at a middle school. I've applied for a full-time librarian job at one of our high schools. They actually called me and asked me to apply. I really enjoyed subbing there a few times this last year. I'm really hoping I get the job.

Hope things slow down a little for you to enjoy your summer.

That's exciting about the full time job! I hope you get it! I'd like to go full-time also, so I can rceive medical benefits.

Thanks for motoring by...

I worked in the school district for years - did lunch lady duty, subbed for 5 years, then went full time in the office at a middle school. I have to say that was a disaster, since my son was that age, and it was not a good fit for me being with that age all day and then at night - of course that's when his troubles were beginning, but we didn't know it. Working with grad students is more my speed!

I trust you'll have a good summer, and that "good influences" will abound for your son. Thanks for stopping by again!

P.S. - I meant to comment on the site you mentioned - I need to do something like that to get started on being published. Thanks for the tip!

That's awesome about the article, I went over there and read it and loved it again. You do good work.

Wishing you the best with the summer school and with your son. I remember being the smartest, most knowledgeable man at 19. But when I got older I realized just how dumb I was at 19.
